The Fátima region is excellent for hiking, mainly thanks to the Serras de Aire e Candeeiros Natural Park, which offers varied trails through limestone landscapes, valleys, caves, and traditional villages.
Serra de Aire e Candeeiros

The main hiking area in the region, with well-marked trails of varying difficulty levels. Hikes wind through rock formations, olive groves, and natural viewpoints. It's an area rich in biodiversity and with unique landscapes in Portugal. Ideal for those seeking unspoiled nature and tranquility.
PR2 – Broken Hole Trail
(near Fatima)
A very interesting circular route that passes through rural areas and typical geological formations. It allows you to discover a more authentic side of the region, with little tourism. It's an accessible walk, perfect for half a day.
Valinhos – Loca do Anjo Route
An easy and symbolic trail, linked to the apparitions of Fatima. It connects the Sanctuary to Valinhos and Loca do Anjo, passing through wooded and peaceful areas. Ideal for a light walk, combining nature with historical and spiritual significance.
Fatima-Tomar Route
(Pilgrimage routes)
Part of larger pilgrimage routes, frequently used by hikers. It crosses rural landscapes, small villages, and natural areas. It can be done in stages or partially.
Pia do Urso – Sensory Eco-park
A short and very pleasant trail, ideal for families. It passes through a typical restored village and well-maintained natural areas. Includes sensory paths and rest areas. Excellent for a relaxing walk.
Alvados – Cabeço da Fórnea
One of the most beautiful trails in the region, with stunning landscapes over a kind of natural amphitheater. It combines nature, geology, and panoramic views. Recommended for those who enjoy hikes with some visual impact.
Local trails of Fatima
(circular loops)
There are several short circular routes (7 to 10 km) in the surroundings of Fátima, passing through olive groves, fields and small hills. They are ideal for walks of 2 to 3 hours and allow you to explore the typical landscape of the region.
