Coin Caves

Discovered in 1971, the Moeda Caves are one of the most accessible natural attractions near Fátima. The underground route reveals well-structured galleries with impressive limestone formations, such as stalactites, stalagmites, and small mineral waterfalls. The lighting has been carefully designed to highlight the details and create a welcoming atmosphere. The visit includes explanations about the geological formation and the history of the discovery. Outside, there is a museum space and a pleasant surrounding area. It is an excellent option for a short, educational, and visually interesting visit.
Mira de Aire Caves

The Mira de Aire Caves are the largest visitable caves in Portugal and were elected one of the 7 Natural Wonders of Portugal, reinforcing their national prominence. Discovered in 1947, they extend for several kilometers, although part is open to the public. The route descends about 100 meters deep, revealing an impressive underground world with stalactites, stalagmites, columns, and crystalline lakes. The scenic lighting enhances the natural formations, creating an almost magical atmosphere. Known for their spacious chambers and impressive formations, these caves stand out for the so-called "Organ Room," where the natural columns resemble the pipes of a musical organ. The colorful lighting creates a visually striking environment. They are less frequented, allowing for a more peaceful visit. The surrounding natural mountain range enhances the appeal of the place, making it ideal for those seeking a different and less touristy experience.
